OUR STORY
Carroll County Courthouse
Carrollton Water Tower at Sunset

AUGUST 21, 2017
(A DAY YOU WILL NOT FORGET IN CARROLLTON)

August 21, 2017 will be the FIRST TOTAL ECLIPSE of the Sun to visit Missouri in 148 years.
Carrollton, Mo. is right on the Center Line and that's as good as it gets!! Stay put and enjoy one of the Best Views in the entire state
of Missouri. The 1869 eclipse only clipped the northeast corner of our state. The 2017 eclipse will begin its sweep from the northwest corner of Missouri to Cape Girardeau.
Depending where you are in the state, the eclipse will begin between from 11:30 a.m. and noon. It will continue
until between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Of all the sites, Felix Valle will have the longest totality of more than 2 minutes 40 seconds. The total eclipse in Carrollton will last 2 minutes 37 seconds. This truly is location, location, location and it's in our hometown. So lets get ready to enjoy and share!!

As written in the Total Solar Eclipse 2017-Path through the United States, St. Joseph gets a whopping 2 minutes 38 seconds of totality at 1:06 p.m. The shadow's southern edge will hit Kansas City, but as we've said, folks there should have hightailed themselves to Carrollton  where the total solar eclipse will arrive at 1:09pm. lasting 2 minsutes 37 seconds. WOW!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT.....

Anyone staying behind to watch will get a beautiful sight of Baily's Beads along the bottom of the sun's
eclipsed disk. This in itself will be awe-inspiring and will somewhat compensate for the length of the toal solar eclipse.

Cities along the path of total solar eclipse-where the moon completely covers the sun, leaving a glowing ring from the sun's corona-are preparing celebrations, events, special school activities and an influx of people to their communities. A columnist at Astronomy Magazine has called for Missouri officials to declare it a state holiday.

Bob Baer, a physics professor at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale, recently traveled to Indonesai to see a total eclipse for the first time. He stated, “Bottom line from those who have seen a total solar ecplise, It's an experiecne not to be missed.” I heard other people say, “Life changing event.” After being a part of a 'Total Solar Eclipse' that pretty close to what I would say,  “It's breathtaking. It's like nothing you've seen before.”

Carrollton WE have been given a Gift. What will we do to honor such an event in our hometown? The ideas and possibilities are endless. We need to rolL up our shirt sleeves and get busy!!

Take care and do something good this week,

Live Music

Whiskey River is a                 Mid-Missouri band that was started in 2013. They enjoy playing a variety of acoustic music and cover artists such as Alabama, Blake Shelton, Cross Candian Ragweed, Hootie and the Blowfish, Lynard Skynard and many more.
Band members include Lance Barlow, Joe Backes, Cohlby Jones and Monte Railey.
Country music's power has always been in its ability to reflect real life, and few artists have a stronger gift for capturing both heartache and hope than Wade Hayes. In the past few years, the singer/songwriter has navigated a complicated journey that has produced some of the most potent songs of his already impressive career.
